A Bit About Me

Samu is a tattoo artist with a deep love for detail.

Specializing in fine line, botanical, and ornamental work,

her style fuses soft whip-shading with storytelling—often reflecting modern Black female culture. With years of experience and a steady hand, Samu is an artist at Inkgenics studio, bringing a tender, thoughtful energy to every piece she creates.

Samu is a multidisciplinary artist, tattooist, and storyteller. A Black queer woman based in Johannesburg, her work flows from a life rooted in creativity, softness, and curiosity. With a Fine Arts degree from Wits University, her background in drawing, painting, and design weaves naturally into the delicate linework and intuitive whip-shading that define her tattoos.

Outside the studio, Samu finds inspiration in slow rituals: tending to her garden, swimming under open skies, hiking quiet trails, or sketching on sunlit picnics. Her love for nature and movement infuses her botanical and ornamental pieces with a deep sense of breath and rhythm.

Tattooing, for Samu, is a way to hold space—where her art lives not on gallery walls, but on bodies. It’s tactile, intimate, and real. Through skin, she tells modern storyboards of Black womanhood, of growth, of softness, of strength.

She tattoos with intention. Every piece begins with feeling.
